Mpisi? SamuraiDave?
Did one of you guys tell me there was a civilian carbine class around here somewhere?
Do you think they'd object to a BM-59 in it's folding stock configuration?
It's only two inches longer than an M-1 carbine and the same size as an M-16.
I thought I'd post this pic from the Beretta Museum in Italy just because it is so gun-pornographic. Looking at this picture, to me, is like smelling a steak or putting suntan lotion on a redheaded college girl.

Carbine classes are at
TacPro near Stephenville (3-gun match May 10)
Tiger Valley (Waco and they are starting up at Elm Fork on Luna in Dallas although that may just be handgun classes for now)
Probably Adrenaline Proving Grounds on US380 east of McKinney
TDSA in Ferris
Steve Moses is known locally and is now teaching at a range in Weatherford http://bluffdalefirearmsacademy.com/default.aspx

National instructors on the circuit come through once in a while. Tactical Response does stuff in Bastrop, but checking their schedule I see only handgun and shotgun in June, rifle class was in March.

No problem with BM-59 or any decent 7.62 rifle as long as you can run it and have a decent supply of mags and ammo. Heck there's some .22s showing up now, or pistol caliber conversions, people are getting alot more tolerant of using anything that goes bang when the training ammo costs are eclipsing all but the most expensive classes.

Lots of matches and other stuff around too, most are a bit of a drive though. 3-gun somewhere every couple of months. I've got my boss shooting pistol with me now, so I need my next victim :D

Might be worth asking the instructor to see how much shooting is expected before a break, classes vary in intensity. Generally more mags just help you stay on the line longer, learning and shooting, rather than loading mags. For a 20-shot rifle I would like a minimum of 5 mags. Any less and you'd be running around loading all the time. When I took a rifle class I had all my ammo on stripper clips for faster loading, although that makes more difference with the AR than with a 7.62 rifle. Easier on your thumbs too.

I can reload my rifle directly with stripper clips. So 5 magazines?
ok, Ill have to start shopping.
