Dalton Assassin...

Great name..Assassin! If there ever was a knife just begging to confiscated by the authorities, this is probably the one. Looks good, but I don't know if its $200 good.

what do you want it for? It would help if we could comment on your intended usage, and maybe recommend something else?

The Assassin is an excellent Dalton, I have a black model and a damascus model. The action is excellent for a large knife, and there is ample room behind the sharpened part of the blade for closing. If you like large autos, this is a great one. A great show piece! :D

It is a well made knife and would be a great addition to an auto collectors display case. With a 6" dagger blade, 13.25" overall, it is certainly not something I would want to get caught carrying. Unless you live in Oregon. :D

the Assassin is a great auto. well designed and when deployed, snaps open quick and hard. this is a long knife and looks great open. not really a carry piece, as suggested above, but it is solid and i think of it as a modern interpretation of a stiletto.

to stab someone with :D

nah, i'm just looking for a good stiletto type knife for collector purposes. I was looking at the Cold Steel Ti-Lite, the Camillius Cuda MAXX Stiletto, the Protech Godfather, and now this. I must say, a 6" automatic stilletto looks very sexy to me.

Call me wary, but a double-edged side-opening auto sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

anyone own one of these and care to comment on it?

I want to do some research and be sure before i drop $200+ on a knife.

I have an Assassin. As far as quality goes, it's a Robbie Dalton. If you are not familiar with the company, I can tell you taht I own quite a few. I have NEVER had any trouble with the quality. (I'd like to hear more about their damascus blades-never had one, but thinking about it.) For bang-for-the-buck, you jest can't beat it. And DON'T worry about it being sharp out-of-the box. It'll shave. The springs on them are quite strong-hang on tight.

Also-Esav is right-stay alert with this one, even more than most.

On this particular knife-carrying options are limited. The only thing you could do is use a standard sheath with the handle stiking way out. And, if you ever do plan to carry it--man, I hope that you are legal. Any law-enforcement type would get you for it, and if that is ever shown in a courtroom as exhibit A, well, you are going away.

If you want it for a collector's piece, I'd suggest that you buy quickly. I have found that the availabilty of Dalton knives is limited, and very time-dependent. Good luck.

I've seen a few for sale under 2 bills, you just have to watch the for sale forums. Theres about a good inch of unsharpened blade to close it with below the sharpened part. Rob Dalton only has a couple of workers who work on the knives with him, and they come out with quality and a great price. I'm obviously not the end all expert on the Daltons, but I've been picking them up for about 4 years, and reading up on the models(I only have 36, less than than the severly afflicted!). They have the "definition" of a hard banging auto spring, whether its an OTF or a side opener. The damascus models I have are a neat change, kind of like an Emerson collector getting a model with a dam. blade. The Assassin is about the longest Dalton made, it would be a fun first model! It will give you the fever...
