Hey, does anyone know the composition used in the Damascus 110 ?

Number of layers?

Will the pending release be the same as ones of yesteryear?

Why is the sky blue?

This tread will answer the question of composition. I cant help on the rest, but maybe I will sit down sometime and try to count the layers. :D

Hey Tom...thanks, good link. I searched for "layer" as "damascus" had a lot of hits and would have missed the thread you posted.

I read with interest the post of the 110 being a nail extruder. A DM shouldn't be used as a pry bar due to the layering damage that can happen in delamination. Actually, no knife should, but they are and I do.

Please post back when you are finished counting the layers.

Thanks!
Goose.

I just noticed this thread and read the old one about damascus steel Buck knives. I have a damascus 110 that I have had for 12 or 15 years. It has never been used. I carried it a couple of days when I first got it and the first thing I noticed was it was rusting in my pocket. That put an end to carry. I keep it clean and wipe it down with oil now and then to keep it from rusting. I don't think any damascus steel knife should be used unless you need a knife real bad and don't have another knife handy. Damascus steel was used a long time ago both in blades and gun barrels. There is a reason people quit using it except for novelty and beauty. Use the new steels.

howdy , on this i wanted to add my $.02 worth:
it is my understanding that buck ordered some DM from parker early on...
latern they ordered soem from Dave Meier Steel (try meiersteel.com) {not closely related} which is some of the BEST DM out there!!!!n most got used on custom stamped from true custom shop and yes some on 110 and 112 [yes 112 DM is great looking knife] but buck lost track of what all they did use it on!!! i dont kow who last supplyer was.... or current one is... buck did fail an order on quality control and scraped it so they are watching quality!!!...
