This is an axe up for auction (buy it now for $400 . Okay it's a Black Raven but still...). How the heck did this kind of damage happen? It must have required some SERIOUS force to bend it like that! By the looks of the poll they must have been using a huge sledge hammer on it.

Holy crap!

That thing must have been ran over or maybe caught between some heavy machinery or something. I've never seen it that bad. Not even close. I don't think human force even using it as a maul would do that.

I agree with the theory that it was used as a wedge without a handle in it.

My new favorite on ebay right now is this "New Old Stock" Kelly Perfect. Too bad it's the Barco version. Not "old" enough for me.

"New Old Stock" is one of those descriptions that gets misused quite a bit. Anyway, the bevels on that Barco actually look good. Granted that they are just ground in instead of forged to shape with the bevels. But hey, the bevels are mostly even, as opposed to the bevels on the council...

I saw that one on Ebay. If you looked at the pictures closely, they did show the damage to the head. Sorry that you ended up with it....

$400...Ouch!

Double Ott

I have a Plumb that looks just like it. I think it's probably circa 1980 something.

Whoa! I did not buy this, just borrowed the pics from the auction. I'm sure it's still for sale if you want to jump on it :p.

I don't even think, rolled in a bulldozer tread would do that? It would look wierd as heck to make a handle to fit it.
