Damaged Marto Explora

My Explora was stored in a floor safe that got flooded and sat in water for a couple months. As a result, the black finish is pitted on both the handle and scabbard. Any ideas how to restore /fix it? Blade is fine since it was in the scabbard which must be waterproof.

Sand it down, tape it off, hit it with some black Krylon spray paint. Let it dry for a day or so, and lightly brush/blend with some fine steel wool. Might not be an EXACT match, but when it's close enough for you, spray a coat or two of clear over it...
