DSCF0631A.jpg DSCF0631A.jpg DSCF0631A.jpg DSCF0631A.jpg My Explora was stored in a floor safe that got flooded and sat in water for a couple months. As a result, the black finish is pitted on both the handle and scabbard. Any ideas how to restore /fix it? Blade is fine since it was in the scabbard which must be waterproof. Tragic...
The original factory finished powder coated epoxy psint never was particularly hard wearing to begin with.
No paint ever is, i guess.
Fair warning though;
anything done or applied
to the knife
would further depreciate its collector value.
But its yours and i understand how a marred look can really be upsetting :)
so, You could have it done professionally at an auto paint shop.
Or you could DIY with a spray can
of wrinkle paint.
It would be better to remove all
the old paint for an even surface.
Be sure to mask up areas that
you dont intend to spray over.
And lay off any applied heat
to plastic parts and rubber !
If you haven't any experience
do a test run on a metal can before
attempting it for real on your knife.
Best of luck!

Thank you for your advice. I have a friend in the auto and body biz and will see if he can do it. It's still functional and I love the feel. It's the only one purchased from the factory, the others (3) were all from collectors.

Ah, nothing like someone with expert experience to touch it up.
It is after all only cosmetic in nature.
Hope it works out well!
