Let me tell you my last "knife story" ...

If you have encountered any traditional french Mongin knife in your life, you may have noticed that splendid, shining, lovely polished stainless blade ... sadly, you would also have had a hint of its very low edge retention ability ...

Well, I have a certain amount of knives, including a pair or two of Mongin knives, and I had a dream ... needless to say : since I know it's possible, my dream was ... well, you'd guess, of course !

Once upon a time, I met the gifted Belgian knifemaker Samuel Lurquin, who kindly accepted to make me a new blade for one of my favorite Mongin's, that one (blade lenght : 4 in.) :

well, well, well, I got the knife last week, here are my pics : :thumbup:

That blade is a sanmai of 1.2519 and damas (1.2842 & 1.2721 (L6)) with a 62 HRC hardness on the edge.

What do you think of that customisation ?

Very nice!

I've not seen this style of knife before, but your final version looks beautiful!

Very nice! I've never seen that style either but it's very interesting and the blade looks great!

Oh my! That's sweet. Great that you can have such a beautiful blade in a favorite knife. Thanks for sharing, as like the others, I've never seen one like that before.

That is one classy knife! The blade is very well executed, too.

What kind of wood is the handle?

Thanks all !

The handle is in honduras rosewood, wich gives a great feeling. That hard wood makes a very light handle.

Sure I'm going to love that knife for a long time :D
