I have a black micarta handled 112 on the way to add to the collection and while I'm waiting wanted to try and solve the mysteries surrounding Damascus 112 blades..Since 2007 I've tried to find out just when Buck first made and offered Damascus 112's and in particular where the steel came from. It was offered in the early 80's in Bucks custom shop but as far as I can tell very few were made in that period..Maybe just a handfull. In the late 80's early 90's Buck came out with quite a few runs of LE 110's in Damascus with different bone handles but no 112 that I can find. I've heard about a few made with Mastodon Ivory but no regular LE. The BCCI had a short run made in the late 90's but nothing since then that I know of. At one time I figured Buck must have did a run of blades (100 200 500 ??) Aand when one was required went to the secret room and found the old dusty box where they were stored lol!
So any information on Damascus 112 knives and blades would be greatly appreciated. Especially when it was first available, number of the run of blades or the manufacturers or frankly any information at all!! Thanks ya'll

Clint, I have this one...believe I sent Leroy a NS 112 and he put the stag and damascus blade on it for me. If it's real important to you to know I'll try and find the reciept. Preston

pjsjr don't worry about the receipt..Leroy's probably touched most of the 112 Damascus blades Buck ever made. What I wonder is when and how many blades were ever made. What is the total outside of the BCCI run?? Nobody seems to know..Since the very first known is in the Custom shop in the early 80's (I'm not real sure of that either) since the one I got in the mail this afternoon is a 1st version with the brass spacer. I think David said Joe made mine but he didn't say when. Of ya'll lucky enough to have one can you remember when you got it?

Maybe the BCCI group will know.

I don't think that you can attempt to accurately date the blade by the frame of the knife that it is in since that blade could be added at any time, even at the factory.
