A recently completed commission was this recreation of a knife I made several years ago.
The handle is black bear jaw and the guard and frame are deep etched and heat colored wrought iron that loop around to form the D Guard with a punch prong included, just for good measure!
The blade is 10 1/2" of low layer random Chad Nichols damascus, 13 1/2" OAL and the sheath has a bear claw and a beaver tail inlay.
Many thanks to Coop for the fine photo and as always, thanks for looking!!

Another great piece, John, and another very happy Customer....superb picture, Coop. :)

Thanks John! As always what a spectacular piece.

Anecdote: It arrives and I didn't know anything about the piece OR the 'prong punch'. John smartly puts a small antler tip with a bore covering it for protection in shipping....

I'm fussing with the layout and can't, for the life of me, figure out how to show the piece with the historical cap and with the cap off, or is it a little medicine mortar and pestle? I'm befuddled.

Finally I text John and he's amused: "No, that's just a cap I made to protect it..."

I'm NOT smarter than the average bear. LOL!
