He ordered a flower carved, left handed Pancake sheath for his knife.

A Water Buffalo leather belt with contrasting red stitching completes the order.

Thanks for looking and questions and comments are always welcome.

Very nice Damascus, tasteful engraving, looks like splendid Ironwood(?) and very cool sheath!

really nice adornment to the bolster and the sheath. bolster reminds me of a hard Christmas candy, for some reason. I like it, though. It looks nice.

Beautiful work, Dave.

You guys need to take another look at Dave's work, both knives and leather. His knives will stand up to daily hard use and look great doing it........and his leather is great also. It's Western flavored which is very normal as Dave is a real honest to goodness working cowboy (runs his own cattle operation). Take a closer look at Horsewright Clothing web site. Google is your friend.....or link is above in his sig. line.

Very nice looking knife and sheath, the engraving is a very nice touch.

Thanks guys! Should of mentioned that my wife did the carving on the sheath, I did the construction. Wow, Paul thanks!

Couple of cowboy pics for Paul.........

My wife Nichole, heading this calf to be branded. Me in the white shirt.

Hauling the calf to the fire and I'm coming in for the heel shot.

Calf is stretched, branded, processed and castrated.

Thanks Rob. Appreciate the kind words. The customer showed up on his Harley yesterday to pick up his knife and belt. He'd flown from AK to OH where he'd kept his bike on 9/8. Between then and now he'd already put 8,000 miles on it. He rides that thing.

Charming comes to mind. The mosaic pins and engraving look great together. Beautiful package.

Sorry Coop. Friend of mine, Mike Vatalero from Taps Bit and Spur Shop does the engraving for me. Here's a couple of things he's built for me:

My wife had him build this bridle bit for me for my 50th birthday. On the inside of the right cheekpiece 50 is inlayed in silver. So in our lingo this is a Birdshead Santa Barbara cheekpiece. I use this bit almost daily and it is on my big red horse in the pics above where Nichole and I are roping that calf.

My spurs. I've since changed out the rowell as this one was not quite pokey enough for Sonny, my big red horse. His nicknames are Bismark and Battleship not Ferrari, so ya get the idea. Cool story on this rowell though and this is the first one Mike ever made. When Arnold was Gubanator here in Kali, somehow he saw a pic of my spurs. He comissioned 3 pairs of spurs with that rowell from Mike. He presented 2 pairs to Vicnete Fox and his wife as presents from the people of California and the 3rd went to George W for the same. Couple of years earlier I saw Mike at a show. Told him I wanted a pair of spurs something kind of "Californio". He had me bend a coat hanger around my boot heel and then these showed up in the mail a few weeks later.

Mike was a working cowboy for over 30 years and his nickname was Tapadero (a tapadero is a stirrup covering such as the one I using in the pic with my spur). Taps is short for tapadero hence Taps Bit and Spur Shop. I made the knife, boot sheath, leggings and spur strap.

That is some absolutely beautiful engraving, always envious of those that do it that well, much talent.

Great thread, really like the Working photos, would seem to be a wonderful lifestyle from where I'm sitting!

Thanks for sharing your knives and leather, and a peek into your world!
