I am contemplating my next purchase and am thinking about a small classic with unique graphic. I may go the whole hog and get a damascus blade.

Is any of the damascus offered by CRK stainless and if so is it suitable for daily use? (probably only at weekends for best)

I had planned on getting an Umfann to carry everyday with a damascus blade so I was wondering the same thing. I'm not going to worry about it to much since it is an EDC.

I guess I must have missed your post bagman, but I should be recieving in a couple weeks my large unique graphic Sebbie with stainless Damascus blade. I had to wait almost 2 years for the CR shop to get this stuff in, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

I opted to go with the SS Damascus for just your reason...EDC. Chris once again chose to go with Devon Thomas's damascus, which I feel is a pretty good choice. His(Hoss)SS Damascus is, I beleive, made out of ATS-34/302 stainless combo. If you have a blade made out of it for daily carry, it should serve you well.

At the same time I ordered this Sebenza, I asked about having another blade made at the same time out of FLAT GROUND BG-42. It took some proding, but Chris finally agreed to do it. I was floored. Not that I have any doubts about the SS Damascus, but I wanted the extra blade for more demanding tasks. You know, gotta keep the Damascus looking good!:D

Hope you opt to go with the SS damascus. I know as of right now the shop is waiting on some more to come in. The patterns available with be raindrop, ladder pattern, and I think spirograph. Think about it and let us know what you choose.:)

Thanks K-Guy

Was the SS damscus more money?? and was the 2 year wait for the first lot of SS, I dont fancy that sort of wait myself.

The stainless was not any more money, and I doubt you will have to wait for a Sebbie made with this steel. I know they have some in and are getting more. My pattern is the raindrop which I like.

As far as the post refered to by Humpty...I know for a fact the Chris Reeve is not using Damasteel. Unless something has changed and now they are. The knife I will be receiving will have Devon's stuff. I've had other custom knives made with his raindrop SS Damascus and haven't yet had any problems. No rust, and the blades shapren up razor sharp and hold a great edge. I've also have a custom Mnandi with Thomas's B&W(black and white)high carbon Damascus. I use the knive quite freqently and it too has given great performance. This steel though, I make sure to keep it will protected using Sentry Solutions TUFF CLOTH or TUFF GLIDE.:)

So how often do you wipe it down? Do you use the CRK RIG grease that comes with?

Will the Tuff cloth be enough?

I have RIG that Chris sent with my Mnandi, but have only ever used it once when I first got the knife. I use TUFF GLIDE on the high carbon Damascus and have never had a problem. I'm sure the RIG works just as well. I guess if you are going to store the knife over a period of time or just have it for show, then maybe you want to add a little RIG to the blade. ;)

RIG is fantastic for long term storage. I put away a Rem 40XB sporter with blued barrel for about 7 years in a dry cellar. Found the rifle in mint condition upon opening the foam case. Normally this is a disaster for blued chrome moly steel.

The product is fairly old time however, it does work as advertized.

Regards,
FK
