Hi:
Anybody out there know of any makers of Damascus heads (or complete axes)? Looking for a hand ax for my father for Christmas. Don't need mosaic... just good carbon steel damascus. I know I have heard of makers that do them, but can't think of any right now.

It will probably never be used (will be displayed on the mantle), but I want a fully functional piece. Any help on this will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg,
Maybe you have already checked out the thread "damascus by Coon" from NI200 (just below your thread):D
You HAVE to see that to believe it!
I think that's exactly what you are looking for. DAMASCUS AXES:cool:

The smith is Raymond Coon. And he makes some real good stuff with steel...
Well, it's worth the shot!!
BTW, I make a little research: He is a member of the ABS.

I WILL KEEP THIS MAKER IN MIND FOR SURE.

I just checked out the Raymond Coon site... I now know where my next purchase is coming from! Those damascus axes are stunning, not to mention the rest of his offerings.
Does anybody have any of his knives or axes that they could comment upon?

Thank you for your kind words Tom. I have a little
different one headed to bladegallery.com in I hope a few days. If you get a chance please let me know what you think. I'm calling it a damascus war hawk.
