this is a 3lb 10oz Axe with a hand carved 21" hickory handle. This axe started with almost 10lbs of steel and after forging the 300 layers, and drifting the eye, and cleanup, ended up with just shy of 4 lbs of steel. I documented the steel loss on my blog at Damascus Losses
