This is another one I have gotten finished up and am putting back to take to the Blade Show..

It is 13 3/4" AOL with an 8" blade from my "Smoke Screen" Damascus. The handle is African Blackwood. The guard & Butt cap are the same Damascus as the blade only reduced 3 times to give it a tighter pattern, then Nitre Blued to an almost black color.

Please let me know what you think!!

Steve

That's great....good looking Damascus and that guard is really an eye catcher....very nice, clean work.

That's awsome. I like everything about it. The guard is unusual but very nicely done:thumbup:

There is a lot about this knife that I like, but there is one thing that I think takes away from the overall presentation. The guard is overpowering the rest of the knife visually. It it takes the eye away from the rest of the knife and to me, negatively affects the flow. I sure do love that steel though and find everything except the guard to be very appealing.

Very nice Steve, you have been really kicking it up a notch this past year produceing some incredible knives.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

Keith, That just goes to show the different tastes in knives. The guard drawing the attention is what I was trying for on this one. That is why it is so bold, but still flows with the rest of the knife. What I like about the knife, and was trying to accomplish, is exactly what you aren't fond of on this one. That is why I love the diversity of this craft. Everyone has a little different opinion of what they like and dislike. Thank you for your comments!!!

That is a really attractive piece - the damascus pattern is quite striking and the overall lines of the knife are very clean. Unlike Keith, I quite like the guard. IMHO, it wouldn't have nearly the same visual presence with, say, a plain oval guard or evena traditional fighter guard.

I think the audacity of the guard compliments the wide, bold pattern in the damascus--stunning work!

Thanks again everyone for the comments and compliments.

Roger.. Like I said before. different likes and dislikes are why I love this craft. I am glad you are attracted to the guard, and view the presence of this knife the same way I do!!

Very appealing from tip to butt.
The guard adds a little pizazz to an otherwise classic design in my opinion.

:eek:Wow! That is incredible Steven!! Awesome damascus. I love the Guard shape:thumbup:
