Damascus/blackwood dagger

One more close-up :)

The details?

I made up a twist billet and then cut it in half lengthwise. I turned it inside out and re-welded it. Then I forged that into a dagger shape, and then forge-welded a random pattern billet AROUND that to make the cutting edge.

The guard is forged to shape damascus

Fluted damascus ferrule
Fluted African blackwood handle with twisted wire inlay
Flute damascus pommel

The handle was ground/filed into an elliptical shape...so no one would think it was turned on a lathe. Man, there was a lot of work that had to be done with a file on this knife!

Everything was etched deeply and then given a black laquer treatment.

Thanks for looking! :)
Nick

Very, very nice. You can tell that a lot of work went into it. You should be proud.

For some reason Whenever I see "blackwood" I think of Neil Blackwood. :)

Dennis,

Ya, I didn't remember making a damascus dagger:confused:

After seeing this one, I don't think I want to even try!!!!

Us Blackwoods are from Scotland by the way, not Africa........

Awesome Nick!!!

Nick,
I don't think you are going to make it in knife making. You might try going back and trying to master the drop point hunter.

You are killing me....
