Two topics here. First is about the damascus bladed SR-1. I'm really looking at the stainless Raindrop pattern in Chad Nichols damascus, and loving what I'm seeing. I already have the blue SR-1 V, but that damascus just looks fantastic!:thumbup: I have asked this question but never really got a concise answer, and that is how well does the damascus steel do when compared to the newer super steels? What steel does it compare to the best? And what Rockwell does Lion Steel run the damascus at? Any help is very appreciated!:)

Second topic concerns the aluminum version of the SR-1. Basically, how has this knife fared? Is the aluminum able to have a "memory" like the ti, so that it locks up in the same spot each and every time? Thinking about getting my son one for Christmas; green/black, or red/black, either way they are very good looking knives. But him being a volunteer fireman, and an EMT, will the aluminum hold up to the number of openings he will have? Again, any help is much appreciated!:)

I to have the Damascus Rain drop by Chad i'd like to know the RC test numbers Like to carry it but afraid it has a lower RC rating,Plus thinking about buying another damascus but different pattern Rc numbers will be a factor in the next knife i dont need but have to have

I could be wrong but I believe that all of the HT is done at Chad's shop and not by LionSteel, or any other manufacturer for that matter. I wouldn't worry about the steel not holding up, Chad knows what he's about. The only issue that I have is with carbon damascus, I can't maintain it very well down here in southern Florida. Stainless damascus I would have no problem carrying and using

I did alittle research Chads RC Number hits around 59 most of the time,,and if thats the cast its near perfect not to hard/brittle or too soft and have to sharpen it daily,,adds a A+ to my wanting another knifearts SR-1 im diging that Iguana Pattern
