Here's Kyle's latest (#5). We're calling these collaborations. My sunfish mark on the front, K for Kyle on the back.

This one's made from the same damascus billet as my MS test knife. 300 layers 5160/15N20 random. 4.5" blade, 8" over all.

Handle is stabilized Bog Oak, carbon dated to 5460 years ago. Very Cool Stuff and the most expensive wood ever in my shop.

The design was inspired by a Sam Lurquin design that I am making him. Kyle really liked the design and wanted to do something similar. It works for me.

Paul finished it off with a Very Nice sheath!

Wow! great looking blade and handle! really nice work, I'm new to knife making, and can appreciate a great design and bevels!

Thanks guys!

Mark, I wish I could show off this wood I got from you. It is Very Cool stuff, but the depth, color and grain doesn't show in my photos.

Kyle's really starting off nicely in keeping the designs basic and really nailing the fundamentals and execution.
You can tell he's in it for the long haul and interesting in emulating his teacher ! You must be a proud papa :thumbup:

Good stuff from Kyle. Really like the blade shape and grind. Work 'im Don, work 'im! He keeps getting better!! Ben

I like his knives. I like his family. Show us a picture of your talented son. :D

It's a great looking knife. It's a wonderful thing to see interest and aptitude follow the generations. It harkens to a time when trades followed families and respect for craft and each other could be shared in common work.

I hope to do the same with my son one day.

I'm a fan of bog oak and tapered tangs.
Had to come back for a second viewing Well done IMHO.

I had to grab this from don and Turn it into a random use utility knife. I feel bad taking it from you Since you were gonna keep it. It will remain in the loop though

Yes, I was tempted and really thinking about keeping this one. But it's very good to have it going to a good home. Thanks Jon!
