The blade is 8.75" and the knife is 14" overall. It sort of speaks for itself.

WOW! That just blows my mind. While the blade surely is the first thing to catch your eye, upon closer inspection the guard/ferrule are just as impressive. The carved handle looks extremely well done as well.

Now that is really well done.
Balanced, the elements work together and don't fight each other.

Three drooling smilies!
:p :p :p
(I know, but they are as close as we've got ;) )

Tom Ferry makes some very intense knives. For some reason that's the word that pops into my head when I see his work - intense. His bold damascus patterns, the lines and contours of his blades, the timascus he uses from time to time... just intense. His knives definitely stand out in the crowd and this one is absolutely top notch. I love it!

I don't own one of his knives yet... yet

Tom makes some of the nicest stuff out there. This bowie is exquisite.

I have two of Tom's knives.A similiar Bowie , a way cool hunter, and have seen a bunch more.He is truely amazing.

That is some eye-popping damascus and a terrific overall design. Congrats to the maker, and as for the new owner: :p :p See you at Blade bud. ;)

Brilliant and distinctive, thats a very fine addition to already impressive collection.

Has to be one of THE nicest knives I've seen in this style. Terrifically artistic choice of material combinations. If the handle timber were any more detailed, it would have spoiled the overall effect of the fine detailing in the adjacent materials. The damascus almost looks like a net !

I would have loved to see the detail on the bettend of this piece. Any chance of that, Coop, Peter, Tom, anyone ? Jason.

Coop did shoot it both ways, so Jason here is your wish granted.

Peter came by my home (he only lives an hour away) with a bevvy of some of the finest cutlery in the East. We had pizza and took our time doing a number of displays.

As I many times do, I offered a couple of versions for my client to choose from. I like all the versions. Everyone has a favorite.

Thanks again Peter, for such a show!

Yes, yes, yes: Tom Ferry's work stops you cold. Good stuff.

There is even more to be shown from our evening....

Tom, you know I'm here for you! :p :D

On a serious note, Tom is an excellent smith with one of the best damascus minds going. He can do things in pattern welded steel that most people couldn't even dream of. We have been friends for several years now and he really helped me get started with forging blades and is the first man I ever saw make damascus.

Tom and I roomed together down at Reno (for the ABS show), and this was one of the knives I got to really look over and play with. IMHO, it's not only a fantastic piece of bladeware, but one of Tom's best work as well.

From the design, to steel, to execution... it's top notch all the way.

I'm glad that it made its way to Peter's collection of very fine knives!!!

And of course, most excellent photography by Coop! :D
