Damascus Bowie

I had this piece of Thunderforge Damascus laying around for too long and decided to do something with it. The billet was .25 thick by 12" long and 1.25 wide. I forged the blade out to 9.5 inch and 1.5 inch wide.

The guard and pommel are brass and the fileworked ferrule is 303 stainless. The grip is California Redwood Burl.

The blade is edge quenched and shows its temper line thru the pattern.

I saw this blade shape by Bagwell in an old KNIVES edition.

and i like the choice of material colors. for inexspensive damascus that thuderforge makes a great knife. i use it for stock removal and it holds a great edge as well as looks good. i just got a e-mail from bruce e. that my next bar of frontier damascus will be shipped monday. can't wait, hope to have a bowie ready for my june show.
