(Damascus) can you drill it?

A novice needs advice. I want to put a thumbstud in my boker 2001 edition Damascus blade. Will a regular hss bit do it or do I need something tougher?

Probably best to invest a little more and use a carbide bit. In saying that I assume the steel is hardened.

Hey thanks...Yes, I'd say it's hardened.

A carbide bit is the only way I'd try it on hard damascus, just like Roger said.
