How To Damascus care/inlay?

Hey guys. A few questions. I just bought a spalted beech with ladder Damascus blade.

Does the Damascus actually need to be oiled to not rust? I see everybody's Damascus airways looking perfect.

Does the wood need any treatment or anything I shouldn't do? Water? Fish slime? Car fluids? They all safe?

Do the polished handles scratch easy with the inlays on them or do they protect well?

I treat my damascus blade the same as the other S35vn blades and haven’t seen any issues. CRK recommends lightly oiling them but the makeup of the blade is stainless steels so you should be ok with just occasional care, unlike a true carbon pattern welded blade.

The wood is stabilized so it won’t need any special care.

The polished handles will show wear but the inlays help prevent them I feel compared to the plain jane sandblast handles since the inlays hit the surfaces first when laying the knife down.

In short, just use it like any other Sebenza and appreciate the wear it will show over time. Now I need to give my Inkosi a break and carry this one tomorrow!

The Damascus is stainless, so nothing special to do there. With any wood, humidity will cause it to warp. Just don't go scuba diving with it. Just make sure if the wood does get wet to wipe it down. Why test the waters ? Like with anything that's polished, if you bang it on keys in your pocket, expect it to get scratched up. You may want to use the pocket sheath it comes with to prevent any unnecessary scratches.
Congratulations on a gorgeous knife !!!!!!!! But, most of all, it's meant to be used. It will bring a smile to your face every time you pull it out to use.
