Lost my job recently, and unfortunately i have no choice but to sell off a few a my best pieces. My loss is your gain!
HAND FORGED and HARDENED DAMASCUS BLADE!!!!!! The reason the steel is forged differently on this blade(horizontally forged), is that the blade is made to withstand very hard blows, due to having a soft steel, and a harder steel forge welded together in layers! Perfect Convex edge!!! You can see a hamon at the convex edge!!!! Made for clearing brush and chopping off heads, in Southeast Asian countries!!! This is not a blade you can get your hands on. I can’t remember his name, but I did talk to the maker in Indonesia, 2 or 3 years ago I believe, and told him exactly what I wanted,(a light fast machete type of chopper, but that is strong as hell and can withstand hard blows), and he recommended this one to me, and then preceded to tell me about his method of welding the steel together like this(horizontally).
The handle is also Beautifully carved buffalo horn, with a beautiful polished steel bolster/ferrel! Beautiful detail!!The blade goes ALL the way into the handle. You can see the tang of the blade if you look into the butt of the handle, about 1 inch in. The feel and balance of this thing is just amazing. It is very Solid, too, not at all a delicate blade. You can really do some damage with this thing.
The sheath is very skillful carved IRONWOOD, with nice carvings!!!! Again, the pics do not do this wonderful piece of art justice.
The parang is 24.5 inches overall, and has a blade that is 17.75” inches, and is over ¼” thick at the handle!!!, and tapers down to the tip just perfectly!!! Perfect Balance!!!!!!!!!!
Light, fast, and a Super chopper and slicer!!! All at the same time!!!
If you are looking for a perfect chopper, something higher end(well, highest end) than your average production, or even custom for that matter, than this is the blade for you.
Never carried, used or sharpened!!!!!! New as from the maker, even with the original oil still on the blade!!!!!
After coverting to US dollars, taxes, and shipping with insurance, I remember I paid something like $500+ for this like 2 years ago, and boy am I glad she made it through customs! Again, never used or sharpened, only taken out of her beautiful sheath a few times only to check her over. You won’t see a deal like this again!!!
