This is a mix of handle attachment styles. It's full tang down through the G10 bolsters, then mortised tang for the wood. It's probably more trouble than it's worth, but it lets me put a spacer between the wood slabs, and I like the look. It also keeps the knife balanced out towards the tip more, where most of my full tang knives are heavy on the back end. I usually don't notice, but this is more "lively" in my hand. I can't pick it up without wanting to slice into the nearest piece of paper, which unfortunately for me happened to be one of my wife's magazines. I was also a little worried that the differential heat treat would look silly on Damascus, but I like it. What do you think?
Oh, I forgot - I posted a pic last week looking for help getting the yellow tinge out of my pictures. Thanks to whoever told me to look at my camera's settings. There's a setting for "tungsten" that does a pretty good job. It looked a little washed out even, so I jacked with the colors a little more to try to get the cocobolo to pop, without overdoing it. It will never match a pro's job, but I'm happy.
