I've owned this knife for quite some time now but have never been able to come up with a suitable background for a photograph.

Today, I decided to see if I couldn't find something on the net that I could drop the knife into. What do you think?

The knife was cut from this white paper background photo BTW: http://www.houseofrage.com/knives/WP_Crawford.jpg

Excuse me while I wipe away the drool! Fantastic knife and, like all your other photos ..... WOW!

Thanks! This image is as much Photoshop as photograph though. The knife is even more impressive in hand. Big and quite heavy.

Regardless, it's beautiful work .... not to mention, a beautiful knife. Unfortunately .... (and just my opinion) it's too bad some makers of $1K plus custom knives plaster a beautiful blade like this with a name. It just bothers me. Could have been done other ways .... spine, inside scales or even on the blade tang parallel with the bolster ..... but smack dab in the middle of the blade. Just takes away from the overall beauty of the Damascus. That said ..... would still make me ecstatic to own it!!!! And the 10+ ounce weight wouldn't bother me at all! Thanks again for sharing this piece with us.

That's good work. Really imparts the quality of the piece through clarity and color.

I will nit pick now: I simply don't love the angle of the actual global lighting. Although you've done a masterful job of adding the shadow to be directional.

The brightest light at the blade shows the darkest background. That is a giveaway that it's contrived. You needed to dodge that. ;)

Regardless: Good eyes and skill. Props!

Jim

Thanks Jim! That is a good point about the dark corner and the bright blade. I don't often do "photochops" like this (too much work to look realistic) but will keep that in mind. Unfortunately, I cannot go back to tune this one up as the PSD was accidentially saved at this low resolution.

I have a Kasper on the way......drool is right!! That is one of the finest blades I've ever seen.
