4.75" blade of super tight and crisp ladder pattern damascus, stainless guard with a file worked silicone bronze insert attached to amber stag with mosaic pins.

A really sweet job by John White, JS.

The damascus is very impressive ..... and another vote for resizing your pics to 600-700 pixels wide.

That`s a big damn knife, LOL.

I like it. A few things I would spec out differently but that`s just personal preference and doesn`t mean anything. That`s a beautiful piece of damacus and I love the file worked spacer. I like the handle shape too. I`m not too big on horn so I would probably go with linen micarta. I like it though.

Superb. The fit and finish look really top notch as does the damascus. I'd love to feel the balance in hand. I'm not the biggest stag fan in general but this one really shines to my eye. Outstanding acquisition Peter!

Just out of curiousity, what is your issue with stag?

You do NOT take a piece of PRIMO damascus, and throw MICARTA on it.:grumpy:

If you don't like stag, there are an awfull lot of nice woods that you could select from.

Best Regards,

I certainly agree with you there STeven. Ivory would really dress up this knife to my eye, even more so than the stag. The right wood would also be beautiful. I don't think any synthetic material would make sense with the style, damascus, and fittings.

Same opinion here.
Micarta is suited for some knives, I guess. However this style knife begs for natural handle material.

Peter my friend,

You're taking the term "wallpaper" a little too literally. :p

This is a beautiful piece by a very talented maker. Proportions are spot on, which is the case with all of John's knives. Do you know if he is testing for MS this year?

Roger

John nailed it! I like everything about it. Nice choice of Stag and fittings. The damascus is classic! Lin

Sorry about the file size, I will replace it with a link.

If you look closely at the compressed version that Roger posted you will see that the ladder pattern is completely lost and with it half the beauty of the knife

Nice score, that damascus looks so "neat". I especially like the stag and the way he worked it down to mix the colors. I was going to complain about the size too but you really can't appreciate the blade in the smaller picture. Maybe you can add a thumbnail along with the link?

Like the Sendero style handle, nice stag, outstanding damascus and file worked spacer.
I would perfer a little longer blade, considering the size of the handle, however a GREAT little knife.

Just received John's letter and free pass to the Little Rock show. In the letter, he states that he will have one or two of his MS knives he will present in June at the show.

This is a 'sweet' job as Peter stated. John does a great job.

I like it allot. I know the difficulty with that damascus. Besides Ivory, stag is still my favorite.
