hey everybody!

IMG_0031.jpg

this blade is my first trully laminate blade. i have done a bit of cable.. but nothing actually layered. it is a low count, as i am doing it all by hand.

I actually screwed this knife up.. it was meant to be a bolster and slab knife.. but messed up the plunges.. so i set it aside... and then turned it into a hidden tang blade.

the other thing is the wrought iron gaurd was forged out of a piece of iron i found on a beach along the james river... i think it was really old. it was near a 18 century dock at kenan's warf, up the river from jamestown.

the handle is stabalized maple burl from Jim Rehrer.

I am going to get some better pictures, measure it all, and it will be up for sale.

i would appreciate your comments and critiques. i want to improve.

Another kick butt knife. Really looks great all around. Where does one your age learn the patients. I had to age and have mine forced into me.

thanks guys!
the flash wrecks havoc with the colors and stuff.. i hope to get some better pics where i dont need to use the flash.

ib2v4u, i guess i was taught patience by my parents. but i didnt get it with knives till about a january 2007. i started taking the scratches out.. and making things nicer.. and i dont know why i didnt before... but it does make a difference.

*laughs* i guess i also am learning the patience with courting a young lady. heck.. i would love to be married now.. but not only do i need to wait on her father's timing, i also dont want to waste the time we have NOW by wanting something i cant have...
patience is being pounded into me now.. i am just happy it is showing in the knives too!

wow.. that was long winded..
thanks!

Simply.............. BADASS !! The only thing I'm missing is the ricasso, and that's only because that is the "norm". You seem to be writing your own rules though when it comes to your bladesmithing Chris, and your style is brutal man. I like it !!!  Just in case I wasn't being clear with my slang.......... that was a compliment ;)

I REALLY like that knife, very smooth flowing and great to look at. I am sure it feels even better than it looks. I like the job you did on the gaurd and handle especially. Excellent design, can we see it "in hand"?

That looks absolutely amazing. The only change I'd make from a user's standpoint is either *slightly* more flare to the back of the handle or a lanyard hole. Few feelings worse than watching a non-throwing knife go sailing downrange. :D That is by no means a criticism, however, just personal preference. Love that guard.

That is absolutely sick, man! The whole thing looks like it just "flows". The blade design is beautiful, and honestly, you could put just about any sort of handle on it, and it'd still be a sweet looking knife. Nice work...

thanks guys!
i put it up for sale well.. in the for sale area. and here is a pic of it in hand.. and my brother took the picture.. yeah.. no comment

Wow,Chris-that is beautiful-I usually think damascus with a hamon looks a little off,but you nailed it,man-that is one badass looking knife!!

Good thing you made a hidden tang out of it.
I realy like the looks of it as it is right now!

Conrgatulations...I've seen your work just grow tremendously since posting here.

That's the best knife yet :) stunning IMO
