Damascus fighter with stablized maple burl handle and bronze/nickel silver fittings.

Below is a pic of the jig I used for creating the dome on the pins that hold the nickel silver plates in place.

There are much better jigs than mine but this was a rough and ready attempt, so please go easy on the crudeness. There is a 3mm hole that holds the pin with a plate below it to fix it at the right height. The pin is 3mm so there is no chance of bending the pin when I hit it. I then use a small peening hammer to mushroom the end. Then put it mushroom side down in the top hole, a shallow 6mm hole, and hammer the end to bevel the edges.
Then, use 400 and 800 grit paper to finish it off.

Thanks for looking.

Nice looking knife. If it was mine I would have preferred the plates to be recessed. Just my preference.

I prefer escutcheons recessed as well.
I find myself wondering how that handle would feel in hand.
Love the steel pattern, I've heard it referred to as a 'River pattern.:thumbup:

Thank you for the kind words and advice. I never thought about it, but it would have made the handle more comfortable if the escutcheons were recessed. Next time I guess.
