Can anyone give me info on three knives I recently purchased at an estate auction. The first is a Damascus fighting Bowie with 7 1/4"L by 1 5/16"W by 3/16"T fixed blade, 5" stag handle, 12 1/4 total length, with tear drop shaped brass guard, brass butt cap, with fancy notched spine and matching utility or bird knife. Both knives are stamped MP on the blade and came in a buck or elk skin sheath. The other is a Stag handled Bowie, 8"L by 1 1/2"w by 1/4"t fixed blade, 13" overall length, with nickel guard and butt cap. It had BOWIE stamped on the right side of blade at one time but appears to have been neatly filed out and polished. It sort of resembles the Sheffield Bowie's that were advertised in the back of magazines for a few dollars back in the 50's, only this one has very thick stag slabs, probably added later. There is a number 9 on the blade near the guard and appears to have had another number before it but is burnished out. I am particularly interested in the maker (MP) of the matched pair. Thanks...Guy
