I'm looking for a damascus folder that I can use. I was looking at the stainless steel Damascus Sebenzas, but I'd prefer custom. Possibly a wharncliffe blade. Something uh, economically sound :)
What makers would you recommend? Is this possible for $500-600?

I like doing all-damascus and heat treating scales and all. With a good etch its kind of like those fingerprint resistant fridges. They don't really show scratches and they clean up nice with just some 1000 grit paper. Also, good rounded corners show off the pattern and handle better than some of those sharp-cornered tacticals. Thats my 2 cents worth.

Sounds like a hell of a knife. :)
I've been looking over BladeArt, at a Tom Anderson Thrush (damasteel wharncliffe) and a Peter Marzitelli Raiser wharnie.
Do you have any photos of your all-damascus folders?

All I have on CD now are fancy gents. One is a gold-washed lockback over a SS ladder by Devin Thomas. I will go through my photos for an example to scan.

Sorry, wrong knife. That was an enameled damascus wharncliffe with a titanium locking leaf.

I'd like to suggest Art Washburn, he made me my first custom folder. The knife was made to my drawings using Devon Thomas "Raindrop" pattern stainless steel Damascus. I've carried this knife for over two years and I couldn't be happier with it. Wharnies are a great choice for EDC's.

John makes AWESOME folders!!! They are so smooth and extremely well finished. No suprise he won best folder at the 97 Blade show. His folders also have a very refined feel. You can't go wrong

I agree with Bailey and Phil. I own one a couple of Art's damascus folders (actually use one of them) and have been so impressed with John Perry's work over the years that I ordered his M.S. test dagger. Every one of John's folders that I have seen are exquisite in every way.

Hi Guys,

and thanks for the good words on my knives.

Phil where you been lately?

Does Bastid equate to Gus?

Does Bastid equate to Gus. Pretty much in everything but goats :D.

John Perry folders are top notch. When you pick one up you would expect to see Mike Connor stamped on the blade. That's how clean and well executed they are.

Love nice Damascus. For many years I my everyday carry has been a Greenaway Damascus folder.

Consider David Winston for nice knives and good value.

You look into Allen Elishewitz, too. He works a lot in damasteel and his latest line (da vinci, scout, silver fox, etc..) is quite nice! Plus he's been messing with his guilloche machine which adds a very neat touch to the knives.. truenorthknives.com has a bunch of his latest work.
