I am looking for damascus steel to make sword and knife fittings out of, primarily in the Japanese style. I don't need the material to be hardenable and am not picky about the pattern. I have sent emails to some producers of custom damascus but have never received any replies, probably because of the odd sizes of barstock I am looking for. I do stock removal and need 1/2" X 1 1/2" and 3/16" X 4" stock.
Does anybody know of a smith who has the time and the inclination to produce some barstock for me in the above dimensions? Rough size of course, it doesn't have to be precision ground or anything.
