Hi Knifemakers,

This is a test mule framelock that I have been chipping away at. I make primarily fixed blades, but I have made a few lockbacks in the past and I thought I would try something new. Turns out it is a major pain in the can.

The blade is 1075/1030/15n20 and is the very first piece of Damascus I made with Don Fogg. The pivot is 9/32 W-1 that I turned and the handle is from our friends at Halpern. It still needs a clip and I might turn a slightly bigger stop pin to get the lockup a bit earlier. Other than a borrowed lathe, this was completely made in a blacksmith shop.

The plan is to use this hard and often as an EDC and see how well it takes it. Then I will figure out if I ever want to make another one.

I would love to hear your thoughts,

-Nick

If it turns out you really don't want to make more framelocks...the damascus though you'll have to..this pattern looks fantastic

Thanks!

The damascus I find extremely enjoyable. You can count on more of that!

and thank you, Knucklestick.

:cool:That is just gorgeous! It looks like it's built like a TANK.

Please let me know if you plan on making anymore of these, damascus or not.

Did you say the handle slabs are made of W1 or is that just the pivot? Are they Ti?How's the weight?

What's the blade length?

Thank you Sir,

The slabs are 6AL4V Ti and the weight is considerable because I opted for a hardened 01 backspacer. I want to say the Blade length is like 3.75.

I am still on the fence about making more, but we'll see.

Cheers,

Nick

If you ever decide to make one with a 3.25"-3.4" blade,a tip up clip, damascus blade or not,& a Ti backspacer,I will definitely be interested.

Hey Knifemakers,

Bit of an update. Fixed the lockup and made a frosted nickel silver clip. Now nobody can complain that I don't carry one of my own knives.

And yes, that is 10mm Kevlar needlefelt it is resting on.

I'm excited to see this one next time your up.

I'll trade you a couple 20 round mags of .45 through the can if you let me fondle it. :D
