I finally used the piece of Alabama damascus I got from Roc a while ago (75% 5160 / 25% 1018 ) and made myself an EDC. I live in the middle of the city so I need something fairly sheeple friendly. Wood is stabalized lapacho I got from the Columbus knife show last weekend, and the pin is a mosaic. I wasn't sure if it would work or ruin it, but I actually peened the pin then ground off the mushroom part and it holds tight without the pattern being messed up. We'll see if it holds up to use.

If anyone is planning on making a friction folder here's a word of advice. Don't put the pivot up on the spine like I did, makes it hard to have the mechanics work right. Notice how on mine all the way open isn't all the way open?

Anyhoo, here's a pic, comments welcome both good and bad.

That is sweet and an unusual shape. I cant see the damascus pattern, the rig computer screens are darker than mine at home.

Very cool

I'm not seeing the damascus pattern, either, but a very interesting knife all the same! I'm working on a friction folder myself right now, so I know how deceptive they are. Hopefully I'll get off my butt this weekend and get working on the sucker so I can finish it someday! :D

I'll try to get a better pic of the pattern, but it's hard with a scanner, at least with MY scanner.
