mathias maresch lives just across the border in southern germany. three months ago we visited him in his shop, in the centre of a small medieval town. i ordered a simple damascus hunter that i wasn't allowed to unwrap until yesterday, as it was a birthday present from my girlfriend.
blade length is 5 1/2", oal 11", random pattern damascus blade, damascus ferrule and cap (don't know the steels yet). the handle is fossil whale jawbone
of natural dark brown colour. it's a take-down construction, no epoxy used. the sheath has a damascus clip. you carry the sheath very comfortably under the belt.
althoug the knife looks rather rustic, fit and finish are absolutely stunning, no bad angle, very nice flow with beatiful details. needless to say that i am very happy!
all comments are welcome, but i won't be able to respond very soon as i am leaving for wales today.
regards,
hans
