To set up the story, I recently found a good friend of mine I had met on Adak Island while stationed there in the 1980's. We did a lot of Ptarmigan hunting there and had a great time. I had made a couple of knives while there and we were in the middle of dressing out our birds and he noticed the knife I had made. It was a simple drop point hunter, very crude out of an old planer blade, but worked well. He loved it. I would have liked to have given it to him but I was not real happy with it and decided to make one for him at a later date. Well as usually happens life got in the way, we lost contact and so forth. So 21 years later we finally get back in touch. He emailed me last week and is on his way moose hunting up in BC. Well I just happened to have a knife that would work great for that task.
Blade is 4.875" W patterned 1095 and 15N20 in a woodcraft style. Silicon Bronze Fixtures with white and bronze spacers. Stabilized Koa (looks much better in person way to dark in the photo) The OAL is 9.375
He received the knife today and was pleasantly surprised.
His family has 4 moose tags so I think he might be able to break it in. I guess it pays to wait
