Damascus Hunter

Same story as the last one. An old piece of dmascus I got from an old knife maker I used to help in high school. I ran the grinder ( 9" disc ...just removing slag before cutting and stacking) for the most part but he taught me about making all kinds of damascus. This piece of steel has been sitting around for over 20 years...same as the wood. I have no idea what this wood is other than I would guess the bolster is ebony of some sort. It's so much fun to grab one of these old pieces and make it something.
I almost feel bad even doing it....seems like it deserves to be in the hands of someone that really knows what they are doing. I try to do it justice.

Obviously I have to do a lot of forging as close to shape as I can to get a knife from some of these smaller pieces....but for those that can appreciate what it is ...here's a few of those little pieces.
