Steel: 1080 and 8670

Guard: Copper and nickel silver

Handle: Goncalo Alves

I'm not sure I like the handle shape on this one yet, but here it is.
I know the pictures aren't the greatest. I'll try to take some better ones tomorrow with natural lighting, and post it in the for sale section.

Thanks for looking,

Another classic gorgeous knife with PP technique and style of making a hand made knife.

Awesome knife! Love the two-tone guard. The Damascus pattern turned out very nice and the handle too. Very well done.

VERY cool. the pattern almost looks like something melting. How did you get the wide silver bands? Did you double up the 8670 layers?

Thanks everybody!

First I welded up a billet of about 25 layers, then inserted a thicker layer of 1080 when I re stacked it. Then did a couple more stack/weld steps.

Phillip, Not sure I'm in love with the handle shape either. How does it feel inyour hand? It LOOKS to me like it may be a little more comfortable with more of a curve to it? The blade however is absolutely STUNNING!!!
Without question the nicest piece of damascus I have seen from you or many others for that matter. If you ever have an extra bar of that stuff laying around waiting for someone to love and cherish it just send it on over.:D
Your work has gotten so much better in such a short time that it's hard to belive. Not that it wasn't good before... Just a LOT of progress!
Congrats man!
Matt

You're making beautiful steel, Phillip! Those faces along the spine of the number side are too cool. One reminds me of "Mr. Hand"!

Thank you sir! I'm enjoying it. Damascus is the whole reason I got into forging in the first place.
This is actually a ladder pattern, but I ground the bevels rather than forged them, so the pattern isn't really bold. I used an angle grinder to cut the grooves, and the grinding wheel had a groove down the middle of it, and so the grooves in the steel had a bump down the middle, which kind of made the pattern more interesting. :)

Thanks Matt! I doubt I'll ever have extra damascus, but I might send you some anyway. ;)

BTW, someone has already purchased this one, so I won't be posting it in the for sale section. :)

I checked out your site.
You do nice work, and I like the blade designs.
I have a thing for big Bowies and camp knives.
I was going to post a couple of pics of mine but the forums won't let me start a thread.
