damascus hunter

Hi folks.. I just recently finished up this lil damascus hunter and sheath.. hope you enjoy.

3" 5160, 15n20, 1018 Craig Barr Damascus Steel full tang blade
4" Handle with Stainless steel bolsters, ironwood scales and nickel silver pins

Nice damascus contrast, great piece of wood & I like the pancake style shieth! :cool:

That's a sweet piece for sure, :thumbup: however, I am questioning your choice of materials for the damascus. When I do the numbers, it leaves you with only about a .50 Carbon content on average. Seems awful low to me. I'm certainly not criticizing, more of a question, and looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

The damascus was made by Craig Barr who states that it hardens to 55-58RC with a 400 deg temper. He also says that there is not much 1018 in it and that he only puts in enough to get some contrast. This blade was tempered at 350* so if what Craig is saying is true then it should be harder than he references.
