Hi, I just got a Damascus IV, and am wondering if anyone has any further info on it.

The page showing the annual Boker Damascus knives:
http://www.boker.de/index.php?c=2115

doesn't seem to list them as Damascus I,II,II,IV, but rather just by year. The IV I got is most similar to the 1983 Model 1011, but with a textured horn handle (similar in texture to the 1992 Damascus) rather than the plain handle of the 1011. The Damascus pattern on my IV is different from the 1983 model as well.

From what I've read, the Damascus IV should be from about 1988, based on when II and III were released.

Anyone know more? Thanks.

I am unsure of what model you have, can you post pics or e mail pics and I will try to help.

edit- this is all I can find, it was an earlier series http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/999099-Boker-Damascus-II?p=11387603#post11387603

Pics are worth a thousand words, what exactly do you want to know??

Thanks for the reply. Here are a couple of not-so-good pics:

Guess I'm just curious about the series, how they relate to the yearly models Boker releases, what kind of steels Sachse used for the Damascus forging - that kind of thing.

Nice knife. Looks like stag handles, Boker has used many forgers over the years, it should be a carbon steel damascus, so keep a little oil on it. I forgot about that older series, I have seen I through III, thanks for the pics. Maybe marketing or Terry(TJT) can help.
