I had this shipped from India. It took about three weeks to get here. I've reprofiled the blade, and it will now shave, and slice fine paper.

I'm going to run the blade through a few test, such as hard blows and slicing. If it can hold up, I'll get a few more.
This is a picture after the reprofile.

The shiny part is where I have reprofiled the blade. I still have some work to do on it. By reprofiling, I destroyed the visual pattern of the Damascus, but I didn't buy it for the pattern anyway.

Very nice! You might soak it in lime juice to bring out some of the pattern. Dont know if it will help much but ferric acid might do to much to the already existing pattern. Looks great as is tho. Nice sheath too! That should fix you up in case of rabid dobe attack;)

I like the looks of that. Post a report after you do your torture test.
Might have to get me one too, keep up with Dobe 1 ya know?

Ok, I've reprofiled the blade, and I have an acceptable edge on it. The steel seems to hold an edge as well as take one.
I also found out this is Pakistani Damascus and not Indian. Both origins are known for low and high grade Damascus.

The steels are 15n20 and 1095.

Pardon the quality and angle of the video. I shot this from my phone while leaning it against my iPad. It was a little hard to get the angle right.

Gosh durn you got that puppy sharp. Man and/or woman could cut themselves real good with that.

I like that one in the last picture too, fine looking knife.

Yea, the last picture has a blade that is actually more functional. I like and collect fighters. The kerambit wasn't originally a fighter, but it certainly lends itself well to the task. It is a natural deep cutting tool.
