Just wondered if anyone had experience buying a production custom from EKI? I have set a couple of goals for myself and If I reach them I have decided to buy myself the sweetest knife I can afford.(Well If I could afford it I'd just get it what I should say is I'm gonna get something that I couldn't normally afford) For a while now I have been dreaming about a Damascus bladed Mini Commander or Commander. Is EKI the only place to get them? Are there many out there? What type of Damascus would be best if I actually plan to use it? How long should it take to get one if I order from EKI? If I already have a Commander or mini can I get a Damascus blade added to it?

EKI does show a Damascus option on the C/P shop. My understanding is that there have been no production Damascus pieces produced as of yet. They are working out a technical glitch. (This may have already or most certianly soon change)

The only Damascus pieces that I am aware of are hand ground prototypes made in 2000. Some like the Mach1s and (if I recall correctly, half of the) CQC7B are "Specwar" marked. The small batch of (four, I understand) Commanders are "EKI" marked. All of the Prototypes to my knowledge were made in 2000.

I would imagine the Stainless Damascus would be a better carry piece then the Carbon Steel Damascus.

I doubt adding the Damascus blade to your existing body will be an option.

Hope that helps

John
