Hello,

I am saving for a small sebenza with a Damascus blade

I am hesitating between the ladder and the raindrop pattern
The raindrop seems to look good on the small one but I have always liked the ladder pattern

What are your thinking on these patterns?

May some have photos of their small Damascus sebenza?

Big surprise Lone_Wolfe has an incredible example :)

If you search Mnandi there have been some really impressive models for sale the last two months that will give you a better idea of what to buy.

Finally, it's a bit off topic, but I saw a couple of comments calling out a certain member for bragging or showboating. Obviously the commentator has not looked how generous some people have been with their time and experience. I for one am grateful for wonderful people who respond to posts on the forum and personal emails when I have questions despite the fact they don't know me nor have we done business.

I have owned both patterns on a small. I will say that I personally prefer the Ladder. The photo above is a great example of how it seems to give it, what I call, a shimmer effect from different angles. The Rain does it a little, but not quite like the Ladder.

Finally, to add: I came here to see the Show Boat pictures of peoples gear.

I personally like the random look of the raindrop a little more than the structured look of the ladder.

I'd have to say Ladder pattern for the new production knives. The new Raindrop pattern from 2015 up til now does not really tickle my fancy.

However, if you can find an older production Raindrop, I would definitely go with that. :D Older Ladder is awesome too by the way...

Thanks for the photos. I am debating between the Ladder and Basketweave. Showboating? Don't see any examples of it here, or on the Busse site. Rather a point of pride to show the fine collection (of anything), that has been painstakingly assembled over time.

I prefer the ladder damascus over the new pattern raindrop.

This is a large 21 (on top of a 25) but it has the ladder damascus that I like.

There are so many variants of Raindrop that I think of it by different names.
