I have been looking at Thor for about 2 years hoping someone would release it or a similar tool for Linux but it never happened (at least not that I found). So, I built one. Feel free to try it out and give me feedback and requests.

You can check out our Instagram or the GitHub repo for a screenshot.

What do you envision the end use for this product?

Do you have any pattern welding experience?

I wanted a tool that would allow me to virtually build each step of my billets but couldn't find one for Linux. Since I built it, I wanted to share it.
Eventually I will add some more functionality to giver better representation of the patterns and I need to improve how grinding at specific angles and depths exposes the pattern.

Yes, I do have experience. I have been making knives for about 6 or 7 years and primarily make Damascus knives.

I'd sure love to see that program demo'd on YT - perhaps starting with basic installation with downloading from github. Then stepping thru designing a billet. I'm not at all familiar with Thor. I've been using Mint for several yrs now, but am by no means an linux expert.

Thank you for posting to github and here.

We tried to work on the youtube video demo today but found a few issues. Those are all fixed and we also updated the interface to not look like it was built in the 90's. We'll release a video soon.
