Hello all!

I have several Mnandi's but just recently purchased a ladder Damascus. I noticed the feel when opening isn't as "smooth". Is it normal for Damascus to have a more "metallic feel when opening? Also, should it have come with oil or wax to coat the blade after use?

Yes you will get the metallic feel when opening a Damascus Blade but not always, it depends on the etching (the acid bath the Damascus goes though to bring out the pattern). If it's a recent build the Damascus should be stainless so your OK no need to go crazy about oiling it but you do need to maintain after every time you use it. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the replies and information. Yes, it was born only a few months ago.

How about some pictures? =)

I'll have photos posted in a day or so. Not at home or near the office right now. I had 3 Mnandi's arrive on the same day!...that doesn't happen very often. One of them was a gorgeous Coco with ladder Damascus.

WOW, three in one day, how cool it is that:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Big_E, definitely post some pics. My raindrop mnandi is the same way. You should be able to very slightly feel the pattern of the damascus with your nail. The ball just feels more sensitive.

Yes pics please.
I was wondering the same, when I handled on at a dealer.
By checking it closer I came to the conclusion, that it is the damascus blade.
So far only monosteel in my collection of Mnandi's.
