I, no doubt, should have made it clear, that the sheath was not inlayed by an
ostrich but was in fact done by me personally. I want to be clear and honest in presenting my work. Believe me, I will give credit, when appropriate.

  • Damascus- 1095/5160/15n20 448 layers
  • Handle- red mallee', n.s. red & black fiber spacers, bowling ball with mosaic pin.
  • Guard- forged wrought iron, heat colored.
The sheath was made with vegetable tanned leather. It incorporates an ostrich skin inlay that has been padded.
I do thank the ostrich for supplying the skin.

Thanks for L:D:DKing, Fred

I will be happy to answer any questions about my work. F.W.R.

That sheath is very nice and goes well with the knife, I am a big fan of that style of guard. The handle isnt exactly my style but I think it goes well with the overall flow of the knife.

Nice looking knife, Fred. And I understand aboput the ostrich. You just can;t find one that is willing to do the work any more. Most people are having to hire illegal immigrant emu's instead these days:D

They either want there own place to smoke or they just stick their heads in the sand and sulk.
It's hard to find good help, with or without feathers.
I'll look into the emu availability.

When did you make that, I thought you were taking in easy?

Gorgeous knife and sheath :) Really like the wood used, great tight grain and gorgeous, that's a Bethel forge classic.

Very nice Fred. Your work is what got me started on my custom knife craze as it was my first purchase. One of these days I'll be able to have you make me a nice large one like this.

SEXY! That is a beautiful knife and sheath.

The cold has had an affect on production here. But, you can't spend the entire winter laying on the couch. My wife told me that. Get out there and make something, also from my wife.
Thanks for the feed back, Fred

I appreciate that. When that day comes, I will be happy to work with you.

Whether making or collecting, hand made knives are great.
