A buddy said I should drop by over on this side of the forum and post this seax I finished for this last Christmas. A lady requested the order as a gift for her husband and basically turned me loose on the project. She just wanted a nice seax and left the details to me.

The stats
Steel is 15n20/1075 with a 5160 core.
Handle is stacked wrought iron, copper and walrus ivory with redwood burl.
Sheath is 10oz veg tan with a diluted golden brown die and Acrylic Resolene with antiquing.
Copper is hammer finished and held in place with copper rivets.
Thanks for looking guys and I hope I can inspire others to go out and push themselves to make something unique.

Lots of little style points with this one. I really like the diminishing pattern in the sheath tooling, and the texture on the copper.

I like how it looks like a beautiful, practical, comfortable big knife for the age of the seax, rather than straining to be a sword-like blade. Really nice.

That hammer work is awesome. You must have had cut the basket pattern to get the size the change like that? I love that it looks like something that could have been produced in the Viking age, with the rivets.

She might like it so much her husband doesn't get it

Since it's JT, it wouldn't surprise me if he did something insane like project the pattern at an oblique angle through an overhead projector and a lens or two to get it laid out in a perfect fit.

Very nice, JT!

The layer count and the undulations in the damascus looks very cool. The profile is spot on with the blade too.

I agree with the others, the pattern in the sheath is pretty neat and fits very well on it.

Everything came together perfectly on this one

Nice job!
