Just finished this one this morning.

The blade is just over 10", and is ladder patterned "w" damascus from 1080/15n20. The steel has lots of shimmer and the ladder pattern matches the bandding in the snakewood nicely. It is patterened after my Tejas model bowie, with a slight sweep towards the start of the clip. The handle is snakewood, and is in an octagon cross section. I like the feel of this style of handle, and it is very easy to keep your edge alighnment since you can feel the angle of the handle. Rounded handles don't give the same exacting feel IMO. The oval escutcheon is 10k gold. The guard is damascus fromteh same billet as the blade, but wasn't laddered. The "w" pattern shows on the top and bottom. The engrving is 24k gold overlay, with 18k green gold borders, and releived background. The face of the guard also has 18k gold inlaid borders, with fine 24k gold inlaid vine scrolls. The pommel is also damascus, a two bar twist of mild steel and nickel. It has a carved shell and overlapping leaves, deep relived background, and 18k gold borders. The finial is heat colored stainless with 18k gold inlay and checkering.

As you could probably imagine, this was a time consuming project. I made the pommel twice, as I simply lost my conection with the piece and the first one didn't match the guard.

The knife is 15 1/2" overall, but balances at the choil. I tapered the blade quite a bit to the center of it's length, and made a more gentle taper to the tip. This concentrates the weight of the blade in the third closest to the guard and really give the knife a quick feel. My customer wanted this as a fighter, so the quicker feel was important.

Let me know what you think:)

Whoa - what an outstanding bowie! There's nothing I don't love about that knife. And I really like this new direction you're taking with the octagonal handles - it really orients the blade well in the hand.

Cheers,

Roger

I usually don't like damascus patterns but I like this one, and the rest of the knife is outstanding.

I think it's phuckin' gorgeous ! Mind my language b/c I think it deserves it. :D

There are times when I catch myself, in a stupor, shaking my head back and forth. . .and babbling.

Having my monitor screen filled with that knife. . .is one of those times !

Hot damn. . .that's what I call a piece !

I wish Santa would grace me with such a pretty piece ! :)

Damn that's sweet. I am really beginning to like octagon handles. I never had much interest in them until I had a chance to examine one from Rob Hudson. There is just so much hidden in them for the eyes to find. Nice job of blending the curve of the guard into the flow of the handle. Hell, nice job on everything.

Bailey, seems like you have been doing that to many of us. :D

I am in awe.
