I’m curious about the Stag 110’s with the Damascus blades from 1989 /90.. I believe they were all nickel silver?

The ones I’ve seen pictures of are very slim with no need to “haft” the stag down at the bolsters. In fact most look like the bark veins are below the bolsters which is kind of odd.

Also I’m curious about the blades. Are they stainless or will they rust easily? Anyone use one of these special knives?

Love to see some more pictures or hear stories and thoughts on these.

$4????

That is a good find. I know this about the damascus it was definatly from Parker Edwards Cultery. We can count the other mixes out. I'm tryin to find more about it. I remember that It came in 18-24" billets at 5" wide and were hand feed through the fineblank machine.
There were a few of the 110's that were sold through the company store. These would be identified with a capitol E on the blade in addition to the normal lettering. ANY knife with an E on the blade came out of the company store.

Dave,
I checked and we made the knife from 1989 to 1992. During that time we made about 15000 of them. Wait a minute, a previous post has all this info already. Beat me to the punch again!
Yes, $65 was a great bargain!

Found these quotes from Jeff and Joe from ancient threads.

I see above Hubbard says Parker Edwards but Alabama Damascus sticks in my mind. Looking for my notes.
Joe Houser did a brief essay on them in the March 2012 Newsletter. He did not comment on the supplier.
Stag was the most common with 13,000+ made and black fibron the rarest with only 250.

I forgot to mention that mine is not stainless and a few times it developed a rusty haze on the surface that cleaned right off with some Kroil penetrating oil. I’ve used it many times field dressing and processing deer. I lost count and for various other critters. It can take a screaming sharp edge and keeps it for a good while. I’ve never had to stop and sharpen it while using it. I usually touched it up after the hunt, cleaned and oiled and then just stroped a little before the next hunt. I’ve pretty much retired it and use my other 110s with s30v, cpm 154 and 20cv. It’s a safe queen mostly but I take it out occasionally and use it just to keep it honest. Lol.

I posted this one in another thread today...
