Damascus steel article

Mostly nonsense !! He doesn't know the proper terms. What is shown is a 'Damascus' bladed knife .Hardly forgotten and is just a blade consisting of two or more types of steel welded together .It's properties depend on what steels are used .
What he means is a knife with a 'Wootz' blade .This is very different steel , forgotten but rediscovered and it doesn't even look like damascus. They are made today but it's a labor intensive thing and very expensive.
If he can't get Part A correct then I assume the rest of it is nonsense also. 'Nano
Particles ' is a very popular term these days and everyone wants to use it regardless of the facts !!!

But, but...it has nanotubes.

Of course, so may modern damascus, cast iron, modern patternweld, ancient pattern weld, etc. And my oil quenched 1095 kiridashi has nano structures too. The fine grain boundary pearlite has nanometer scale layers of carbide. That's what makes it cut so good. It sure wasn't the great Mapp gas torch heat treatment I gave it.:D

It's good to know you can still find bunk when you need it.
