Is there a point to forging a kukri from damascus steel other than it looks cool? With damascus steel, you have the layers of steel of different hardness all mixed up over the knife, especially the edge. Whereas the point of kukri seems to be that the edge is hardest, and the ridge is softest in order to absorb the blows dealt with the kukri.
