How can I differ fake Damascus steel blade from a real one? I see a lot of ads in Facebook with danascus steel knives... Don't know if I can trust these brands.

Don't buy anything from Facebook ads, my dad has gotten ripped off a number of times with things he's bought.
Couple times he didn't get his order and the contact info was dead, another they signed him up for some kind of monthly membership with his purchase and took $20 every month till he caught on.
Most likely those knives are made in Pakistan and they use real Damascus steel , it's just not very good.
You gotta know that simply being " Damascus steel " doesn't automatically make it good.
Now you can't tell from pictures in an add, but if you can handle it you can spot it easily.
The laser etched pattern will be too perfect, and you can also look at the spine and the file work these always have.
You can see the actual layers on the surface of the steel, and if you don't notice these layers in the file work or on the spine it's not real Damascus.
